I am looking to boost my confidence, calm my nervous system, lessen anxiety and become focused on the present moment. What herbs are good for this? I can think of Valerian and green tea but would like others. Thanks in advance!

i know st.johns wart is good for anxiety and depression. It wont work as well as an anti depressant but i heave heard from several sources including docrots that it is the best natural vitamin to take. Green tea might cause more anxiety only because it has caffeine and that will stimulate your nervous system. If you have anxiety like i do, you should stay away from caffeine because it will onyl make it worse.

Peppermint is good for the blood; Chamomile for calming you down; a combination does both, as Cham. by itself isn’t very nice tasting. Organic is best. Most other well-known brands use detergent to take out the caffeine.

St. John’s Wort is worth a try. I would give it 2 weeks and then evaluate its effect. Chamomile, Valerian, Hops, etc. don’t really do much for anxiety, they will relax you a tiny bit but the effect is probably more subtle than what you want. As for Green Tea, it’l make you more focused but it won’t help with anxiety.

One thing that will definitely relax you is Kava, which you can get at vitamin and health shops as supplement capsules or the real plant. You may have to up the dosage a bit from what is recommended, but you will definitely feel focused and calm. However, you shouldn’t rely on it constantly, because your liver WILL suffer and you’ll see it on function tests.
