What are best Herbs or Vitamins to eliminate stress?

I’m trying to find something out there that really works to keep my mind from thinking about so many things. I take vitamins now and think I need something new.

Kava really mellows you out. There are studies backing it. Just don’t go looking for doctor support in the US - they are all ****** for the pharmaceutical companies.

Brahmi herb which is the Ayurvedic term and (Ginko Biloba) and gotta kola) they increase intelligence, and get rid of depression and help concentration. I don’t’ take them at night only morning and lunch. also for relaxation and less anxiety at night use lavender oil and drink sleep eze tea. or chamomile or other teas for resting.

hi Ted,
stress is more in the mind than in the body.
go to a tea-leaf shop (likely to be chinese) if there’s one availble in your neighbourhood. go sniff on all the flavours they have and decide which scent sooths you the most and buy a packet of that leaf.
so whenever you smell it again, just think soothing thoughts and you’ll feel better. the trick is to associate soothing thoughts and feelings to a particular sensation (like a smell in this example)… so whenever your mind detects that sensation, you’ll automatically feel relaxed. it’s like a drinkable aroma-therapy!! :O)
it’s all in the mind my friend :O) if you are convinced, i’ll send over a packet of my choice from singapore if customs is not an issue :O)

The most useful vitamins for stressed-out people are B vitamins and vitamin C. A single stress reaction (such as someone narrowly missing your car on the freeway) can burn up to 1000mg vitamin C but you can only absorb 500mg at a time. So small amounts frequently (esp. in food) is key. Your body does not store B vitamins (besides B12) so they need to be replaced constantly. Magnesium can help your muscles to relax if you have a lot of muscle tension.
In the way of herbs, I recommend starting with mild nervines (herbs to relax the nervous system) first. Some good ones are Chamomile, Hops, Skullcap, Lavender, Lemon Balm.
Another good one to try is Blue Vervain. All of these can be taken in tincture or capsule form.
After that, you can work up to some of the stronger ones such as Kava and Valerian and St. Johnswort. All three of these have side effects you should be aware of before you take them.
Kava- only take kava ROOT from a reputable source, because kava leaf can cause liver failure. Too much Kava can give you bad dreams.
Valerian- can be too heating for some people and make them feel flushed and hot, do not take if you over heat easily. Do not take if you are hyper to begin with because it will have the opposite effect, it will amp you up instead of relaxing you! Valerian can be addictive, do not take if you have an addictive personality.
St. Johnswort- Can increase photo-sensitivity (sensitivity to sunlight) and make fair skinned people more likely to sunburn.

I totally agree with Tatsin.
Most states have put cannabis offenses as the lowest priority for law enforcement. I have been using it for stress/nerves/anxiety for 5 years now. I would rather use it then some chemically manufactured drug that the government is going to make money off of. Not to mention the effects that prescription drugs have on your kidney and liver.
