Why does everyone say prenatal vitamins are good for making hair grow faster?

June 12th, 2009 | by Vitamin Advisor |
i ℓove you asked:

How is that? Prenatal vitamins are for pregnant people, not for people to take to make their hair grow. At least thats what my mother told me when I asked her to get me some. She laughed and said Why would you want that?! Its only for pregnant women

I guess because it provides the minerals they need. It’s probably prefered for pregant women, but I would say anybody could use it.

Prenatal vitamins will not make your hair grow faster. Avoid the expensive hair growth treatments. Hair is a science and while it varies, hair usually grows 1/2 to 1 inch per month. This all depends on your lifestyle though. To maximize your growth, eat right, sleep enough, and exercice! Scalp massaging may help along with good shampoos and conditioners to keep hair healthy but only your personal wellness will make your hair grow faster.

They help your hair grow because they have more omega-3 and protein than you get on a daily basis.
They just provide more nutrients that help your hair grow.

    Hope this helps. :D

It’s a myth. Pregnant women take them for their babies. It’s also noted that their hair tends to grow faster. People just assume this to be because of the vitamins. It’s actually because of the increase of certain hormones that their hair grows faster, not because of the vitamins. Biotin, which is in prenatal pills, is a B vitamin that supposedly makes your hair grow faster. This is not entirely accurate. It helps your hair grow stronger and healthier and a very tiny amount faster, but not really THAT big of a difference. This is what hair, skin and nail pills primarily contain.
What you really need to do is stimulate the blood vessels on your scalp. You can do this by giving your scalp daily massages, massaging in a few drops of peppermint oil [available at almost any vitamin store] after you take a hot shower, or using Nioxin [available online and at Trade Secret]. I personally used peppermint oil and my hair has grown the fastest it has in months. It takes a while, and I didn’t notice how quickly it had grown until I saw a picture of myself from a few months ago. Considering that my hair is really super damaged from all I’ve done to it, the length it’s grown in a few short months is enough to convince me.

NOTE: I do not reccomend taking prenatal pills when you’re not pregnant. The pills contain very high amounts of certain vitamins, like iron. Taking these higher amounts of it could be dangerous to your health. So, please, don’t take them if you don’t need them.

They make your hair grow super fast like 3inches in a month.

protien makes your hair and nails stronger! if your hair is stronger, and you get it cut every 4 - 6 weeks and keep up on the split ends, your hair should grow fine! I like jello. it is all protien and it is good for you and cheap!
