What side effects have you noticed while taking prenatal vitamins?

Taking prenatal vitamins….please only answer if you’ve taken them–I don’t need nasty answers (apparently I have to post this everytime I ask a question)
thanks girls, glad to know the yellow *** thing is something normal. I drink a lot of water so I found that really odd and didn’t know if it was a coincidence when I started. But oh my lord my hair is greasy now!

My hair and nails grew in thicker and faster, but that’s about the only side effect I’ve noticed. I know some women feel sick while on them, but that did not happen to me.

Bad (or not so good) side effects - bright yellow *** and occasional fishy burps! Good side effects - my hair and nails are growing like crazy!

Stomach aches from the iron and neon colored urine, and a little more energy.

My hair and nails grew faster until I actually became pregnant. Now my son saps all the extra from me and they are growing at a normal rate. I have been nauseous in the past due to prenatals, but it was the taste. I switched prenatals and it no longer bothered me.

I’m currently 31 weeks and have been taking Prenatal Vitamins called Prenate Elite. I tried taking them in my 1st trimester, but since I had a really bad morning sickness I didn’t start taking them until the start of my 14th week. I’ve been taking them since and preferably after having a full meal or else I’ll get nauseous slightly. Since Prenatal Vitamins have extra iron in it your #2’s are darker than usual, which is very normal plus I’ve noticed how fast my toenails and fingernails grows, which is very nice!!

My prenatal vitamins have made me nauseous to the point of vomiting, but also I have very severe morning sickness and am on 24 hour IV fluids and IV Zofran and have been for several weeks and will be for a few more.

Also, I had a metalic taste in my mouth but supposedly that’s from the increase in iron. I always try to chew gum when the taste becomes to strong for me.

    Good luck!

The first ones that i was given made me really sick. I took another brand- it was a purple gelcap. That one i was fine. Made my hair really shiny and my nails looked incredible and were really strong. The side effects tho were, constipation, and when i went, it was black (sorry, TMI, i know) and my *** was dark yellow. But it wasnt that bad compared to throwing up from the other one.

I believe the purple gels were called Prima-Care One. They have DHA in them

i stopped taking them when they started to make me sick and I found out my brand had vitamin A which causes deformities. It must be the way they extract the vitamin A that is the problem because if you get vitamin A from your natural sources you don’t have a problem.

Start eating very healthy, I looked @ the vitamin count in the prenatal vitamin box and I looked for fruits and vegetables that contain those vitamins. Then I started a chart of the best foods to eat. Everything we need is for the most part already swimming in the ocean, eating grass, growing in the grown or on some tree. :)

Yeah, I remember the yellow ***….and I remember the after taste and every once in a while I would feel sick to my stomach if I hadn’t eaten.
