My mother in law works in the house keeping business and she has a client who is asking her to clean his home with natural home made products. I know you can use baking soda, vinager, lemon ect, but he is asking for her to go back to the stone age and use natural plants and herbs. Any ideas….HELP

Geez, I’m all about using all-natural but ONLY natural plants and herbs? Does he expect you to extract oils from plants and herbs yourself also?

It’s almost impossible (unless you have a lab set up in your home) to ONLY use plants and herbs to clean. There are sets you can buy though that allow you to make your own all natural cleaners:
It still uses vinegar and baking soda.

Soap nuts are the fruit of a tree (Sapindus Mukorossi), found primarily in India, Indonesia, and Nepal, and they are an EXCELLENT alternative to traditional laundry detergents. How are soap nuts prepared for use in your wash? They are simply harvested, de-seeded, and then dried in the sun. And they WORK — they really, really work!

SOAP NUTS ARE AN ALL PURPOSE CLEANER and can be used for cleaning window glass, utensils, and various households.

They are 100%, totally natural. They are organically grown and are free of harsh chemicals, so they are incredibly gentle on clothes AND skin. They are especially great for those with sensitive skin — including babies and those that suffer from allergies, eczema, and psoriasis! They’re totally biodegrade-able, so they’re better for the environment than regular detergent, and they’re antimicrobial, so they’re even good for septic and grey water systems!

This product was developed by a gardener/botanist, it really does work, has been scientifically proven to be just as effective as bleach at killing bacteria and viruses, and is made entirely from the oils of common herbs. I use this in my practice ( I work in health), and have a great deal of confidence in it.

If your mother in law doesn’t want to buy the product, or it is not available in the US, at least you can see what the ingredients are, and you could concoct your own disinfecting and cleansing solution.

And I don’t know what his problem with vinegar would be, but it is a great cleaner and disinfectant.
